MGR IS A PHENOMENON!!!
MGR IS A PHENOMENON!!!
DISCLAIMER: THIS POST IS NOT
POLITICALLY DEPENDENT-JUST AN EXPLORATION OF ONE OF THE MOST ADMIRED
PERSONALITIES OF TAMIL NADU - NO POLITICS PLEASE
It was awesome listening to
those evergreen music, lyrics, voice and the gesture...
It happens only with those
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
MSV-TKR,
KVM-Kannadasan-Vaali-TMS-MGR-Sivaji and so on
Of course when i listen to such
songs especially today on a chill morning, just my thoughts run over few
interesting facts about a person who i have always felt that HE IS AWESOME not
because he was an extremely talented artist etc ...It is just because how
organized he was in shaping either his film, political or public carrier and
image...
Yes on 17th January its none other than MGR - Man of Charisma & Will Power...Just a few thoughts about him which flourish since I feel he has always been misunderstood just because some so called intelligent critics feel that supporting an actor or cherishing a film personality is not wise…Let put forth my thoughts flourishing immediately in following few lines,
MGR may not have shown much of variety and versatility in his acting as like his counterpart Sivaji Ganesan, But he had a very obvious plan in executing in any of his film's story. The philanthropic message was well carried out by him and i strongly feel it was the idle reason for his everlasting success to be more than a film actor or a leader...Even after 28 years he is been the most cherished ever political leader of this state, again don't ever feel that people are idiots to praise a film actor in general, It is not only his ability to manage all his coworkers & disciples, going deep in to his life history and information from various talents who were close to him reveal How well he crafts himself, let it be movie, politics or an event.
Legends like, MSV, Kannadasan,
Vaali, Nagesh, Cho etc have many times expressed their unforgettable moments
with him and the incredible abilities he had to get the quality of work what he
wants. The amount of determination, dedication and sincerity towards work was incomparable.
I remember reading in some book, where it is mentioned that MGR is one of the
most talented Human Resource manager he has ever met as he is capable of
mentoring and brings out the best of the best talents (Now a days HR department became just recruiters altogether in every
corporate)
Just to quote one of the
incident which recently on an interview Kamalahassan said, “On the 100th day function of his movie RajaPaarvai, MGR was presiding
the function and from the moment he arrived he was more concerned about the
forecast and was asking Kamal why did you keep the function outdoor and exactly
when he was delivering his speech it started drizzling, he immediately asked
people to switch of the sodium vapor lamps which were placed as decoratives as
they would burst due to showers, Unfortunately the moment he said " Antha
light elam off panunga pa vedichida poguthu" it blew off”, such was
his incredible ability.
MGR was so well respected not
because that he was a successful actor but he was one of the human among the
humans on his time, There are many living evidences to add to his credits that
most of his close disciples are most respected today, no second opinion on
that.
Let me touch on his most
criticized part...Political career, even today i hear those so called
intelligence saying he won because he was a actor and people believed...and i
hate such crazy attitude of so called arm-chair-critics.
Yes Don't underestimate the
Knowledge of Common Man- They are more sensible & Brilliant...
MGR is called a political
phenomenon by analysts mainly due to his “UNPARALLELED SUCCESS”
During 1953-1972, when MGR was a DMK member, many of his Tamil films conveyed political messages, naturally in favour of his party. But it was in the early 1970s that he decided to establish himself as a political force independent of the DMK. When he started the AIADMK in 1972, Rajaji (1878-1972) and K. Kamaraj (1903-1975), who dominated Tamil Nadu politics for nearly 40 years, were in their twilight. Two months after the AIADMK was born,
Rajaji died. In the 1973 May by-election to the Dindigul Lok Sabha
constituency, Kamaraj’s Congress (Organisation) finished second to the AIADMK.
The Congress-O was perceived to be the major political opponent of the DMK, but
after the election the message was loud and clear.
The 1977 Assembly elections turned out to be unique for more than
one reason. They were the first elections to the State Assembly after the
demise of Rajaji and Kamaraj. MGR’s party emerged one of the principal
political forces in the State, a position which it still retains. Since then,
regional parties have occupied the top two positions in the State.
After he captured power in June
1977, MGR remained Chief Minister, except for a brief period, till December
1987. While in power, he lived up to his “FRIEND OF THE POOR” image that he
cultivated over the years as a film actor. His administration offered several
freebies to the poor, and the one that is still talked about is the noon-meal
scheme, designed in 1982. About 10 years later, the Central government,
acknowledging the scheme’s success, made it a national program.
It would be opt to finish this
post with great lines of Poet laureates Kaviyarasar Kannadasan & Kaviya
Kavingar Vaali respectively…
